What is "Alternative Tourism?
" In dictionary terms, it means an emerging of companies small or medium created by families and friends and providing more contact with the communities, respect and sensitivity towards nature but mainly, its philosophy of ideas concentrating on outdoor activities. It also permits a positive relationship between the locals and the tourists. It is divided in three categories adventure tourism, ecotourism and nature tourism.
Adventure Tourism-It's the fastest growing industry in the world. It involves exploring and traveling to remote areas. It provides the tourist with a natural ecstasy with a feeling of adventure while participating in sporting activities in rivers, water bodies, in hills and in mountains.
Eco -Tourism - Provides participation opportunities for the local communities. The goal of this tourism is to provide environmental and cultural awareness and respect for nature. It gives financial growth for conservation, it raises sensitivity to most countries, political, environmental, , social climate and most importantly it supports international human rights and labor agreements.
Eco -Tourism, centers on local cultures, wilderness, adventures, volunteering, personal growth and learning new ways to live on our planet.
Nature Tourism- Traveling to natural areas which conserves the environment and improves the welfare of the local people the main attractions that Nature Tourism has to offer include: bird watching, photography, star gazing, camping, fishing, hunting, hiking and visiting parks. Tourists of such destinations are interested in a variety of natural and cultural resources. These tourists look for authenticity and an enriched natural, cultural or historical experience.
Greece is the ideal destination for Alternative Tourism due to its richly endowed natural environment and unexploited areas. Corfu Yachting has the variety that is needed for this type of tourism.
